 Introduction and Dedication

THE NORMANED RAILROAD (NN&T) has existed as a “salvaged and restored” project for virtually its entire existence, having started “life” with the reclamation, restoration and repair of the discarded “junk” of others, and now again – for the purpose of preparing visual material for this documentation – undergoing repair, cleaning and replacement of damage and destruction resulting from nearly total neglect of any maintenance since 1987 . . . rising in a new Millennium like the mythical Phoenix from the rusty, musty and dusty remnants of its former splendor.
In return for their encouragement and support, this web site of memories is dedicated to all of the members of my wonderful family, who didn't want me to let T
HE NORMANED RAILROAD die.     --N.W.

[1] The Eastern United States “evolution theme” of the Normaned RR is evident as New York Central, Pennsylvania RR and Amtrak motive power carries strings of “varnish” across the “Great Gorge,” while New York, New Haven & Hartford RR twin rectifier-type locomotives haul a cargo of Railway Express Agency reefers under the drawbridge and across the “hybrid” truss bridge in the background.
