Finnish Women on Stamps
|TOVE JANSSON (1914-)
The real breaktrough of the Moomin stories came in the year 1948. In 1998 the Finnish Post
celebrated the 50th years anniversary of this with a new set of Moomin stamps. These are
an addition to the previous two sets issued in 1992 and 1994. Based on the increasing popularity of the Moomin Family, it
is now established in Finland both "The Moomin World", a leisure park in
Naantali and "The Moomin Valley", a museum in Tampere. Here children of all ages
can visit these popular figures. These stamps is issued in a booklet.
