A set of two postal stationeries issued to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Nordland
Railway in 2012.
The construction of this railway lasted for 60 years. On the first card
we can see King Olav V arrives at Bodø Station for the inauguration
of the line on
June 7th 1962. Here a diesel-electric locomotive Class Di.3 (no 3.623) in front of the train. The pre-printed indicium on
the card's back-side pays domestic postage and shows steam locomotive Class 33a with snow plow.

The
second card shows a passenger train passing the Polar Circle one
summer night with an diesel-electric locomotive Class Di.4 in front. The pre-printed indicium on the card's back-side pays postage
world-wide and shows a diesel multiple unit Class 93. This tilting
two-car units were produced by Bombardier in the years 2000-2002 and are used
by NSB on non-electrified lines. |
